The workshop communicates “hands on” knowledge and skills in incident and crisis management. It addresses foundations and methodologies, but primarily practical learnings from past incidents and crises in IT and core business of various organizations. Topics include:

  • Foundations of staff work and crisis management teams: leadership, methods, conventions and protocols
  • Getting it right from the start: identification, reporting, escalation, organization and processes
  • Human factors: points to note in times of crisis
  • Legal aspects in crisis situations
  • Documentation and evidence in crisis situations
  • Handling unforeseen and cascading events
  • Crisis management: strategic, tactical, operational
  • End of crisis and returning to normal
  • Dealing with the aftermath: work items and handling the backlog
  • Handling claims and actions after the crisis

The workshop is designed for experienced practitioners and managers from all professional disciplines (e.g. IT, business, risk management) who have or are about to assume managerial responsibility for incident handling and/or crisis management. All topics are covered using real case studies from past crises. Attendees should be familiar with:

  • Foundational leadership experience is an advantage
  • Experience in military / emergency services / similar is an advantage but not required
  • Experience with / in incident and crisis settings is an advantage
